Diagnostics

Has your pet been acting unusual?  Are you concerned that an illness or injury may be to blame?

When people get sick or hurt, they go to the doctor, explain their symptoms and receive the appropriate care. With pets, it’s not always this straightforward. Because our animal family members can’t speak, they can’t tell us when something is bothering them. What’s more, many pets are able to hide the signs of illness for long periods of time. All the while, the condition is able to develop and worsen.

In cases such as these, we rely on veterinary diagnostics to get the answers we need. These tools and technologies allow us to conduct an in-depth evaluation of your pet’s health, both externally and internally. By gathering a complete picture of your pet’s condition, we’re better able to diagnose and treat health problems in a timely manner. Faster diagnosis of illness and injury can vastly improve the chances of a positive outcome for your companion. Paw Prints Animal Hospital offers both routine testing as well as advanced diagnostic services.

In-House Laboratory

Our hospital features an on-site diagnostic laboratory, which makes it fast and efficient to run a wide variety of tests. In many cases, we can have results within just minutes. This means we can have a treatment plan in place before you and your loved one even leave the exam room. The ability to run blood work, urinalysis and other tests in-house is especially beneficial for critical cases when time is of the essence. Laboratory work is also available for routine health screenings as part of your pet’s wellness care.

Advanced Imaging

In some instances, a physical exam and lab work simply aren’t enough to effectively assess your pet’s condition. That’s why Paw Prints Animal Hospital also offers Digital Radiography. This tool allows us to look inside your pet’s body and learn precisely what’s ailing him or her. We can use Digital Radiography to evaluate the bones and internal organs, identifying injuries, diagnosing illness and determining its severity. Images can be analyzed by our doctors in real-time or shared electronically with specialists if necessary.

If your furry friend has been acting a bit out of sorts lately, don’t take chances. Give us a call right away. We’ll get to the bottom of the problem and get your little buddy back on the path to good health again.

I have been going to Paw Prints for many years now. These are awesome doctors!! I have never been anywhere that they care as much about your pet as they do. I almost always get a phone call after vaccinations to make sure they're doing OK. Dr. Cousins has gone above and beyond working with me on a rather unusual issue with one of my cats. Very highly recommend!!

We have been clients of Pawprints since Dr Crittendon opened. Absolutely love them. Just want to give them praise for last Friday’s appt with all this Covid 19. One of our dogs had an appointment for her check up. I was a little concerned about taking her and being in a waiting room. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door. You could check in from your car, wait In your car, and they would come get you when ready for your appointment. It worked so well. They did an awesome job. And I got to see a doctor I had never seen before. Dr Hunt was amazing and so good with our Charlee Grace. She made our rescue feel so much more calm than Charlee usually is at the vet. Thank you Pawprints.

After spending a lot of money to take my dog into the ICU over a weekend for what was originally diagnosed as pneumonia, I was not able to afford the extra $2k that it would've cost for her to see a specialist to run the diagnostics after she was not recovering with treatment. With a broken heart and with very little hope I took her to Paw Prints Animal Hospital in Easley to see if they could do anything. She was seen by Dr. Cousins and he was very candid in the risk we would be taking by giving her prednisone since we had no idea what was causing her lungs to fill with fluid (because pneumonia did not seem to be the correct diagnosis that the hospital gave). I stayed home with her to monitor how she did just in case she made a turn for the worse. After coming back that same afternoon to administer her antibiotic shot I had let Dr. Cousins know that I had to return to work the next day, but I was afraid to leave her home alone. Without hesitation, he just told me to bring her in the following morning and he would be sure she stayed in a quiet spot until I could come get her in the evening. I can not say enough good things about Paw Prints and their staff, especially Dr Cousins. He took care of Kira as if she were his own pet. I am forever thankful for him and for saving Kira's life. Although, she has many more weeks of treatment, I am a lot more confident that she will continue to recover.
